Hi, all you race fans, and welcome to a new season of racing here at Riverhead Raceway.
Saturday evening was cool, but the races were hot, so let’s begin:
First race, 20-lap, Super Pro Truck, with a lucky 13 racing. It was a quiet race, with a few caution flags, and some accidents. Frank Dumicich Jr., in the #42 truck started in the second spot, but took the lead by the second lap, and never looked back. In the end, Frank Dumicich Jr. took the checkered square for his 1st victory of the new season.
Second race, 20-lap Blunderbust race with 18 cars on the track. It was quite an interesting race, There was a heated battle all race between car #22, and car #49. There were some minor scrapes, and some rough riding penalties handed out. But in the end, Justin wahl in car #49, by virtue of a officials ruling would be awarded the checkered flag.
Third race, 20-lap Legends race with 27 cars on the track. This was a quiet race, with some good clean driving by car #53, Kevin Nowak, would take the lead from the blink of the green, and finish with the checkered square at the end.
Forth race, 20-lap Chargers race with only 9 cars racing. At the throw of the green, “Radiant” Ray Minieri, in the #43 car bolted to the front, but by lap 9, he lost control and was hit by car #81, driven by Chris Turbush. After a series of small fender benders, the field was reduced to just 4 cars. At this point, Chris Turbush would grab the lead, and cruise all the way into victory lane in the #81 car, his 34th career victory in the Charger division.
Fifth race, 25-lap Late Models race, with 12 cars racing. This would be a race that would find their leaders coming from the back of the pack, and finishing in the top three. Jeremy McDermott, in the #4 car, started in the 10th position and moved up past the race leader, Scott Kulesa, in the #10 car, in the lap 8 restart, and led the way for the remainder of the race. In the end, Jeremy McDermott, would take home the checkered square for the victory.
