Dance the night away with Grammy-winning “Polka King” Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra, enjoy a traditional Polish family-style dinner and, at the same time, help a neighbor in need next month at Riverhead Polish Hall.

Friends of Robert Zlatniski, who is suffering from the deadly degenerative disease ALS, are holding a fundraiser dinner for the Center Moriches man on Sunday, July 21, from 1 to 6 p.m.

2013 0615 zlatniski robertZlatniski was diagnosed with ALS, also known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” three-and-a-half years ago, said his wife and caregiver, Barbara.

The lifetime member of the Center Moriches Fire Department is confined to a wheelchair and on a ventilator 24/7, Barbara Zlatniski said.

“Mentally, he’s very alert.”

The fundraiser is being held to help the family defray costs of Zlatniski’s care and treatment.

Tickets are $150 per person and can be reserved by calling 631-878-1006 or by sending a check or money order payable to Friends of Robert Zlatniski, P.O. Box 292, Center Moriches, NY 11934. (Please include name, address, phone number and the number of tickets.) Tickets will not be sold at the door. Last sale date for tickets is July 9.
