Jamesport Fire Department has a new slate of chiefs at the helm.
Sean McCabe, of Aquebogue, a 42-year veteran of the JFD, took office as chief of the department on Dec. 31.
John Andrejack was sworn in as first assistant chief and Dave McKillop took the oath as second assistant chief.
This is McCabe’s second tour as chief of the department. He served as chief for three years from 1987 to 1990. He’s served two years as first assistant chief and two before that as second assistant chief.
The 90-member department is running smoothly, so McCabe doesn’t see any big changes on the horizon.
Being chief this time around entails “a lot more paperwork,” than it did three decades ago, McCabe said. He’s hoping the department’s record-keeping functions can be computerized.
McCabe, who works for the Town of Riverhead, is married and the father of two, grandfather of five.
