In response to Ron Hariri’s letter of June 26, I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment of Joe Petrocelli. I think he has received enough IDA tax breaks and while he reaps big profits from his business’s we the taxpayers pay his
taxes for him.
It is bad enough he received a no bid contract to build the hotel but now he is asking for an IDA break where residents can’t see the plans or voice their opinions.
But to answer the question ‘who do they work for?’ the answer is simply the person who backs their campaign with the biggest donation. I am quite certain Joe Petrocelli writes nice checks to the Town of Riverhead elected officials that are supporting him. It is the way of all politicians. They no longer work for the electorate, they work for the donors and lobbyists.
