Mill Road in Riverhead will be closed to vehicular through-traffic tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. due to scheduled rehabilitation work on the railroad grade crossing, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
Upon completion of the installation of a new crossing panel, temporary paving material will be placed between the Long Island Rail Road crossing panels and the saw cut line of the roadway.
While the work is in progress, the Long Island Rail Road and the MTA Police will provide the necessary flagmen, detour signs and crossing protection.
In the near future the approaches to the crossing will be permanently repaved, weather permitting, the MTA said.
