The East End will escape the brunt of the coastal storm moving into the region overnight tonight, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in New York.
Expect total snow accumulation of one to three inches on the North Fork, according to forecasters.
Overnight snowfall will change over to a mix of rain, sleet and freezing rain in the morning, then rain and sleet in the afternoon, when temperatures will rise into the mid-30s, the weather service says.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for western Suffolk, Nassau, the NYC metro region and southern Connecticut. Total snow accumulations of two to five inches is forecast.
A small craft advisory is in effect for all local waters.
“The system quickly moves away from the region Saturday evening, bringing an end to the precipitation. Dry and seasonable conditions return on Sunday,” according to the National Weather Service in Upton.
