The heat wave is about to begin and by heat wave I mean summer. Father’s Day marks the beginning of this summer season and I know my Dad can be extra cranky when he’s hot. So what better way is there to keep
Dad happy this Father’s Day weekend than with a simple frozen treat?
I’m talking popsicles — fresh fruit popsicles at that. They’re guaranteed to be a summertime hit. Popsicles are the perfect way to cool down after a long day of grilling or a hot day at the beach.
To top it all off, these tasty treats are simple to make — with just three ingredients.
Be sure to add Dad’s favorites to the mix. The more fruit the merrier! Or keep it simple with this recipe for strawberry-banana popsicles.
Strawberry-Banana Popsicles
Serves 6
Ingredients:
1 dozen ripe strawberries, washed and roughly chopped
1 frozen ripe banana, peel removed and roughly chopped
1/2 cup pineapple or orange juice
Honey, if necessary
• In a food processor or blender, puree the fruit and juice. Taste for sweetness. If more sweetness is needed blend in a few drops of honey until desired sweetness is reached.
• Place the mixture into a popsicle mold or use paper cups with popsicle sticks.
• Freeze for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight. Keep in freezer until ready to be enjoyed!
