A Ridge man has been charged in the Dec. 4 burglary of Jerry and the Mermaid restaurant, Riverhead Police said today.
Police today arrested Wayne S. Conklin, 44, on a charge of burglary in the third degree, according to the report.
Police said Conklin forcibly broke into the establishment causing several thousand dollars in damage to the bar area and fled on foot with assorted alcoholic beverages.
Conklin was arraigned this morning and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, held without bail.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
