Riverhead Police and the Suffolk County Arson Squad are investigating a fire at a Route 58 auto dealership late last night.
Riverhead firefighters were called to Riverhead Auto Mall on Route 58 just before 11 p.m. to extinguish an outdoor fire. They found several wood pallets burning on the west side of a building at the dealership, according to a police press release.
The fire damaged extensively a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and a 2013 Nissan van, both owned by the dealership, police said.
Riverhead Fire Marshal and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad were notified and responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
Police said the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
