A sobriety checkpoint on Flanders Road Saturday night into Sunday morning resulted in three arrests on alcohol-related charges, according to New York State Police.
State Police along with Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department and Southampton Town Police conducted the checkpoint at the rest areas on Flanders Road between 10 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday. More than 300 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, according to the news release.
Kim A. Deiss, 50, of Flanders and Edgar M. Diaz-Cruz, 33, of Riverhead were arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated. Julio O. Benitez-Reyes, 27, of Hampton Bays was arrested on a charge of driving while ability impaired by alcohol, according to police.
