Riverhead Town Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in an investigation into the theft of a Riverhead Central School District truck from the district’s property at 702 Osborn Avenue sometime between Dec. 28 and Dec. 31.
The 1996 Ford pickup truck had been parked within a locked, gated area on the district’s property, police said.
The following week an unknown male, picture above, was seen in possession of the truck at the Speedway gas station at 870 Old Country Road. The man was described by police as a black male in his early to mid-60s.
Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to contact the Riverhead Town Police Department at (631) 727-4500 ext. 332 or to write to Riverhead Police Department, 210 Howell Avenue, Riverhead NY 11901. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
