A Riverhead man was arrested on drug charges after an investigation by the East End Drug Task Force and the Suffolk County Probation Department, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release this afternoon.
Police said Thomas J. Langhorne, 58, was arrested today on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree (intent to sell), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree (an amount in excess of a half-ounce) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.
The arrest came after an investigation by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office East End Drug Task Force and the Suffolk County Probation Department into complaints about illegal drug activity at Cuddy’s bar on Third Street in South Jamesport, according to the press release.
Langhorn is on probation for a prior conviction, police said.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Correction: The name of the bar reported by police was incorrect; the bar was sold and the name changed prior to the date of the police press release. The story has been corrected.
