Faith Johnson-DaSilva led the Riverhead Blue Waves in a fourth quarter rally to defeat North Babylon 57-53 in the first round of Suffolk’s AA girls basketball playoffs.

Riverhead outscored North Babylon 19-10 in the fourth quarter. Down by five points at the start of the fourth quarter, Johnson-DaSilva took control, stealing North Babylon passes and causing turn overs. With just under a minute remaining, Johnson-DaSilva tied the game and gave the Waves a one-point lead on free throws.

Johnson-DaSilva scored 22 points for the Waves. Kate McCarney had 14 points, including two three-pointers. Ligon had nine points including one three-pointers and two key baskets in the fourth quarter.

No. 11 Riverhead (15-6) hosts No. 14 Brentwood (12-9) Tuesday Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. in round two of the Suffolk girls basketball playoffs. Brentwood is coming off a big upset win over No. 3 seed Northport last night, 49-43.
