Riverhead Town Police arrested a Shirley man yesterday for passing counterfeit bills.
Police said Jason Scott, 29, passed counterfeit money at West Marine on Route 58 Wednesday. A store employee called police today to say the man had returned today and and attempted to pass counterfeit bills again.
A responding officer located Scott in the shopping center. He was fond to be in possession of six counterfeit $50 bills, marijuana and metal knuckles, according to a Riverhead police press release.
Scott was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said. Scott was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility.
