Riverhead’s Fourth Annual Run to Remember drew nearly 200 people to the 5K run/walk that starts and ends at Riverhead High School. 

Two-hundred and sixteen people registered for the race, organizer and founder Patrick Burke said. 

Luke Coulter, 19, was first across the finish line at 15:53. He was followed by Ryan Carrick, 16, at 18:20 and Paul Povoromo, 18, at 18:35.

The first woman to cross the finish line and in fifth place overall was Tara Farrell, 39, of East Quogue.

The race, hosted by the Riverhead Administrators Association, is a raises money for the union’s college scholarship fund. 

The event honors the memory of deceased members of the school community and their families. More than 25 student volunteers helped with set-up and production, Burke said.

Teachers and staff obtained donations of baskets and other prizes from local businesses which were raffled off at the conclusion of an awards ceremony in the high school gym following the conclusion of the race.
