The driver of a Toyota sedan was injured when she hit a parked Jeep on Ostrander Avenue this morning, overturning her vehicle.
The Toyota was southbound on Ostrander when it hit an unoccupied Jeep parked on east side of the street just south of Corwin Street. The Toyota flipped onto its side, trapping the driver within.
Riverhead Fire Department heavy rescue was called to extricate the crash victim. Firefighters cut the roof off the car so that EMTs could treat and remove the driver.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the victim to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
No tickets were issued in the incident, which police are investigating.
Ostrander Avenue was closed in both directions between Corwin and Main Streets while the accident scene was cleared.
