Ruth A. DeLong, a long-time resident of Greenport, died June 18 2018. She was 92 years old.
Born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania in 1925, she graduated from high school and took a job in a hat factory. During World War II she met her husband, Elwood DeLong. Together they moved to Greenport where he worked at Plum Island until retirement. She lived on 6th Street for more than 50 years until 2014 when she moved to the San Diego area to live with her daughter. While she was there, she was very active in her church and made many good friends there.
Predeceased by her husband and all eight of her siblings, she is survived by her daughters Dorothy (John) Felter of Hollywood, Florida and Lois (Mark) Hamersly of Santee, California.
Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
