Riverhead Police are searching for a man who robbed parking attendants of a money bag yesterday afternoon at a L.I. Aquarium parking lot on Ostrander Avenue.

The aquarium employees called police just before 4 p.m. to say they’d just been robbed in the eastern parking lot on Ostrander Avenue north of Second Street.

An unknown man approached them and demanded they give him the money from the parking booth. The suspect punched one of the employees, police said.

The suspect was able to remove the bag and ran from the area, according to the report.

A check of the area yielded negative results.

Police ask any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
