The Kiwanis Club of Greater Riverhead honored five community leaders today at its 18th annual Breakfast of Stars event.
The Rev. Mary Cooper, Lisa Dabrowski, Laurie Collins Downs, Allen Smith and George “Gio” Woodson were honored with proclamations from Rep. Lee Zeldin, Legislator Al Krupski and the Town of Riverhead at the awards breakfast at the Vineyards at Aquebogue.
Each honoree was introduced by a family member, friend or coworker who highlighted the award recipient’s contributions to the community, through volunteerism and good works.
Each award recipient was also presented with a certificate and map from the International Star Registry, where the club purchases a star registration for each of its honorees, “naming” the star in their honor.
Dhonna Goodale and the RBS Singers provided musical entertainment, while Kiwanis charter member and vice president Harry Wilkinson, who was also honored as Kiwanian of the Year, served as emcee — and stand-up comedian.
