Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Unit detectives investigating vandalism at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville this month are asking the public’s help to identify and locate the vandals.

Symbols and letters were spray-painted on walls, benches and walkways at the shrine, located at 258 Eastport Manor Road, sometime between Aug. 9 and Aug 10, police said in a press release this morning.

Vandals damaged a life-size statue of Jesus at the shrine in March 2018.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest, according to the release.

Anyone with information about these incidents can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS. Information can also be sent by texting “SCPD” and your message to “CRIMES” (274637) or by email at www.tipsubmit.com.

All calls, text messages and emails will be kept confidential, police said.
