Shrine of Our Lady of the Island

Suffolk County Police said a Lindenhurst man was arrested on grand larceny and other charges for stealing money from a donation box at a Manorville shrine.

Police said vandals spray-painted symbols and letters on walls, benches and walkways at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville earlier this month.

Although the crime is also being investigated by the Suffolk County Hate Crimes Section because it is a religious statue, D'Abele said that he thinks it was someone was very angry who needs help.
