Riverhead Police are seeking information about two suspects who burglarized a home on Main Road in Aquebogue yesterday afternoon.

Officers responded to the call for a burglary in progress. Two people, described only as a Black male and a white female, entered the residence and removed cash, coins and a rifle, according to a police press release. Police did not say if the home was occupied at the time of the burglary.

Both suspects left the area prior to arrival of Riverhead Police Officers in a green vehicle.

The description of the suspects and the color of their vehicle match the description provided by the victim of a robbery Thursday night in the parking lot of a West Main Street bank. See prior story. Police did not say if they believe the two incidents are connected.

Riverhead Police patrol officers and detectives, with the assistance of a Suffolk County Police aviation unit, searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects, police said.

Riverhead Police Department Detective Division is investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
