The North Community Theatre invites people to audition at the North Fork Community Theatre on Tuesday, Aug. 10 and Wednesday Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. for a role in NFCT’s musical “Outside Mullingar.”

Callbacks will be announced on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. The show will be held on Oct. 1 through 3, 8 through 10 and 15 through 17. The auditions will use the scripts from the play so review the script if possible. The play will also require participants to do an Irish accent and adapt to a common dialect.

The play by John Patrick Stanley is set in the rural countryside of Ireland in December 2008. It is a romantic-comedy of a small land feud between two farming families. The owner of one farm, Rosemary Muldoon, has been in love with the other owner, Anthony. The feud makes it seem unlikely that any romance can happen.

The roles open for audition include:

  • Rosemary Muldoon – early to mid 40s daughter of Aoife Muldoon . She is stubborn and has feelings for Anthony.
  • Aoife Muldoon – late 60s to mid 70s father who is not in good health and widowed
  • Anthony Reilly – mid 40s son of Tony Reilly and a dreamer
  • Tony Reilly – mid 70s mother and is not in good health
