A man driving a motorcycle was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when he rear-ended a truck on Middle Country Road in Calverton, according to Riverhead Town Police.
The motorcyclist, identified by police as Scott Weston, 50, of Meshoppen, Pennsylvania, was transported by Wading River Fire Department Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital. Police did not provide information about his condition.
Weston was eastbound on Middle Country Road just west of Burman Boulevard at about 5:05 p.m.when he struck the rear of a Freightliner truck that was also traveling eastbound on Middle Country Road, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department Detective Division responded to investigate the crash, as did the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the New York State Police Motor Carrier Unit.
This accident remains under investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to contact the Riverhead Town Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
