Update: 12:45 p.m. – ShopRite has reopened after a small fire inside the store forced the Riverhead supermarket to temporarily shut its doors this morning, the Riverhead Fire Marshal said.

Riverhead firefighters were called to the store at about 8:15 this morning for a fire that started in an oven on the premises. They quickly extinguished the fire, but it caused a lot of smoke and soot within the store, according to the fire marshal.

There were no injuries.

The store will reopen after it is cleaned of soot and smoke and gets clearance to reopen from the fire marshal. The fire marshal could not say when the store will reopen.
