A Japanese noodle house is slated to open in downtown Riverhead this fall.
Takkii Ramen, a privately owned small chain with locations in Pennsylvania, Syosset and Smithtown, plans to open a new restaurant at 124 West Main St., just west of Griffing Avenue this fall.
Takkii Ramen offers a modern casual dining experience, with table service and and an izakaya bar, general manager Ardian Gjurkaj said.
Menu offerings include a variety of ramen dishes and rice bowls, he said, with a menu very similar to the Smithtown location, which Gjurkaj also manages. The izakaya bar offers Japanese “pub food” and drinks.

The concept is a comfortable place where people can enjoy lunch or dinner for about $20 to $25 per person — and be able to get in and out within an hour, making it a perfect lunch spot for people who work at or come to the nearby courts and county offices, Gjurkaj said.
“We’re excited about coming to Riverhead,” he said, describing it as a town that is “gaining momentum.”
Takkii Ramen will have table seating for 30 to 35 people, he said. And, like the Smithtown location, it will feature robotic runners that deliver food to the tables, assisting the human wait staff.

The opening date will depend on how long the permitting process takes, Gjurkaj said. This will be the first restaurant at the site, so the approval process is a bit more complicated, he said.
Takkii Ramen has locations in Kutztown, Allentown, Quakerstown and West Reading, Pennsylvania as well as in Syosset. Its sibling, branded as Rakkii Ramen, has locations in Smithtown, New Brunswick, New Jersey and Bethlehem and Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
