An 84-year-old woman died of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle overturn crash on the Long Island Expressway eastbound off-ramp at exit 73 this morning.

Police said Maria B. Tixi Tixi was a passenger in a vehicle that left the roadway and rolled over several times. She was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by a Suffolk County Police helicopter and succumbed to her injuries while at the hospital, police said.

The operator of the vehicle, Jhon M. Pulla Idrovo, 45, of Corona, Queens was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, police said. He was subsequently arrested for driving without an interlock device, according to the police report.

Two additional passengers in the vehicle were transported to PBMC by RVAC for non-life threatening injuries, police aid.

The Riverhead Town Detective Division as well as the New York State Police Reconstruction Team responded to the scene for further investigation, police said. The vehicle was impounded pending a safe check.

Criminality is not suspected at this time, police said. Anyone with addition information is asked to call the Riverhead Town Police at 631-727-4500 x 312. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
