Five people since the beginning of October have been arrested on drug related charges stemming from alleged narcotics sales in the area of Peconic Crossing on West Main Street, according to Riverhead Police. 

The arrests, which include those of three Riverhead residents and one Wading River resident,  took place between Oct. 3 and Nov. 9. and were the result of an investigation into complaints of street level narcotics sales in the area near the apartment building, according to a Riverhead Police Department press release issued today. Police did not say in the press release whether the people arrested who live in Riverhead resided at Peconic Crossing. Police also did not say whether or not those who were arrested are connected, other than that the alleged activity took place near Peconic Crossing.

Wani Turner, 49, of Mastic Beach, was arrested on Oct. 3 outside of Peconic Crossing and is charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to the press release.

Damion Walker, 46, of Wading River, was arrested on Oct. 12 outside of Peconic Crossing and is charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal tampering with evidence, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree obstruction of governmental administration, and resisting arrest, according to the press release.

Kenneth Hubbard, 20, of Riverhead, was arrested on Oct. 16 behind 57 West Main Street — a commercial building just west of Peconic Crossing — and is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to the press release.

Monwell Wright, 30, of Riverhead, was arrested on Nov. 9 for an incident that occurred outside of Peconic Crossing and is charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis, according to the press release.

The investigation was conducted by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force and several units of the Riverhead Police Department, according to the press release. The press release states several of the people arrested were prior felony offenders, but does not name who those with prior offenses are. 

Police said the investigation is ongoing and anybody with additional information are urged to contact the Riverhead Police Department 631-727-4500 x 312. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
