A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 o’clock this morning, as snow that started overnight continues to blanket the region in white.
Accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected, according to the National Weather Service.
“The snow will make for slippery conditions,” Riverhead Town Police said in a statement Friday. Motorists should reduce speeds and allow extra travel time to reach their destinations, police said.
Snow will taper off later this morning and should come to an end by 10 a.m., as a coastal low pressure system passes to the south and east of Long Island the weather service said in a statement this morning.
