Riverhead Police are seeking information about a robbery that occurred last night in the parking lot outside Marshalls on Route 58.

Police said an unknown male forcibly pulled a woman to the ground between two vehicles and removed $500 in cash from her pants pocket and attempted to remove her wallet. A witness to the crime “verbally intervened,” police said, and the suspect fled on foot south toward Route 58.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned, younger male of average build, wearing dark colored hooded jacket or coat.

RIverhead patrol officers and a K-9 unit canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect, police said in a press release this morning.

Riverhead Police detectives are investigating.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information pertaining to this case is asked to call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.

All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
