The Tricolour flies again in Jamesport.
A flag-raising ceremony took place Saturday on the village green, hosted by the East End Emerald Society, which puts on the Jamesport St. Patrick’s Day parade every year.
“The raising of the Irish flag is all part of what the East End Emerald Society stands for, which is promoting our Irish heritage and promoting Irish American history,” East End Emerald Society cofounder John Cuddy said. The flag-raising acknowledges all the contributions of Irish-Americans, not only in Riverhead, but in the United States as a whole, Cuddy said.
“It displays our Irish pride.”

Members of the society gathered with past grand marshals of the annual parade, along with this year’s assistants to the grand marshal, and Riverhead Town officials to celebrate the hoisting of the flag on Saturday morning.
The Jamesport St. Patrick’s Day parade takes place this Saturday, March 15. The parade steps off at 1 p.m. on Main Road at Washington Avenue and proceeds east on Main Road to Manor Lane.
A “Meet the Grand Marshal” event takes place Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. at On the Docks restaurant, 177 Meeting House Creek Road, Aquebogue. The 2025 grand marshal is Anthony Meras, owner of Star Confectionery in Riverhead. The grand marshal’s assistants this year are James and Patricia Mangiacapre, owners of the Watershed Kitchen and Bar in South Jamesport. The event will feature live music by Tom Chupka.
