Leanne and Linda Simonsen, widow and mother of fallen NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen, who was killed in the line of duty in February 2019, are the grand marshals of the Jamesport St. Patrick's Day Parade, the East End Emerald Society said. The parade will take place March 30.

The Jamesport St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed to next Saturday, April 1, due to inclement weather forecast for this Saturday, the original date for this year’s celebration.

Their surname may be Polish but their Irish roots are deep. Patrick and Joann Waski, both descendants of Irish immigrants, will don the top hat and green jacket to lead this year's Jamesport St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The New York City Police Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums marched in the Jamesport parade this year to honor two fallen brethren, Det. Brian Simonsen and retired Chief of Detectives Jack Cuddy. The pipe band stopped for a special tribute — "Amazing Grace" — at Jamesport Cemetery, where Simonsen, a Jamesport native, is buried. Former Riverhead Town Police Chief Joseph Grattan will be honored as grand marshal of the sixth annual Jamesport St. Patrick's Day parade March 30. Grattan will be fêted at a fundraising dinner Saturday March 2 that supports the parade host, East End Emerald Society.
