The Riverhead Little League’s Police Benevolent Association-sponsored team clinched the Major Division championship title this season, finishing with a perfect 14–0 record.
The team, composed of 10- to 12-year-old players, went undefeated throughout the 12-game regular season and secured the championship by winning both playoff games during a doubleheader in June. They competed against teams from Mastic Little League, North Fork Little League, Eastport-South Manor Little League, and other Riverhead Little League teams.
“All the pieces came together,” Coach Jeremy Eastwood said. The team “really bought into the system of what we were trying to get the kids to do. We really emphasize coming to practice [and] working hard, and they really took part,” he said.
Eastwood expressed his gratitude to the whole coaching team, including Ray Kreiger, Bob Fox, and Jon Sujecki for all their hard work.
The championship team included Jack Rose, Jeremiah Kidney, RJ Kreiger, Cole Eastwood, Patrick Welch, Joel Dupree, Connor Schumejda, Alex Sosnowski, Aiden Pelis, Owen Dupree, Levi Gratz and Charlie O’Brien.
