A Connecticut man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle overturned in the Riverside traffic circle late Wednesday night, according to Southampton Town Police.

Police said Kevin Halligan, 30, of Burlington, Connecticut failed to maintain his lane of travel in the rotary and went over a curb, causing his vehicle to flip over, landing on its roof.

Officers responded to the report of a crash in the traffic circle at County Road 106 and County Road 31 at 10:46 p.m., police said in a press release.

Responding officers found the overturned vehicle and determined that Halligan, its operator, was intoxicated, according to the police report.

Halligan was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and two traffic infractions, transported to Southampton Town Police Department headquarters for processing, and held for morning arraignment, police said.

No injuries were reported by police.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
