John Tradeski was re-elected to the Riverhead Fire District Board of Commissioners yesterday.

Tradeski, a 48-year member, ex-chief and current chairman of the board of commissioners, brushed back challenges mounted by Dawn Jacobs and Richard Campbell.

Tradeski received 206 votes, Jacobs 142 and Campbell 34, according to the final vote tally reported by the district secretary last night.

“Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am truly grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and participate in the district’s election process,” Tradeski said in a statement posted last night on Facebook.  “Looking ahead, my focus remains on supporting firefighter safety, ensuring our members have the tools, equipment, and training they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. As our community continues to evolve, maintaining high standards of preparedness and protection is more important than ever, and I am committed to helping guide that work,” Tradeski said.

Jacobs pledged to continue “fighting for the taxpayers of Riverhead.”

“I did this for the right reasons, not just a title,” she said in a Facebook post last night.  She also thanked residents who turned out to vote.
