High wind warning

High wind and coastal flood warnings have been issued for the East End in Saturday as a coastal storm bears down on the region. A flash flood watch is also in effect.

Sustained winds of up to 40 mph with gusts of up to 65 mph are expected, the National Weather Service said.

Daytime highs in the 20 and lows in the low teens, accompanied by strong northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph today and up to 60 mph tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain this morning. A high wind warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. A freeze warning has been posted for overnight tonight, when lows will dip into the mid-20s.

The blizzard warning was canceled overnight but a high wind warning, wind chill advisory and winter weather advisory remain in effect for eastern Long Island this morning.
