Pride Month

On Saturday, June 15 at 2 p.m., join the Heart of Riverhead Civic Association at Riverhead Library as we get ready for the North Fork Pride Parade with colorful crafts and conversation. 

“Pride and Prom” will be an open conversation about the challenges for the LGBTQ community maneuvering prom and other major life events. Inspired by the musical-comedy “The Prom,”staged this year by Riverhead Blue Masques, tonight’s program will feature musical numbers from the show.

The North Fork Pride celebration will take place on Saturday, June 24, starting with a parade on Main and Front street at noon, followed by a festival in Mitchell Park from 1 to 4 p.m. and a tea dance at the roller rink at 5 p.m.

For most people, the issues are abstract and for many, controversial. For trans and nonbinary people, like Ari Reichel of Riverhead, the issues are personal.

The survey gives the opportunity for LGBTQ individuals on Long Island to make their voices heard and feel empowered in their care, according to the study's principal investigator.
