Riverhead Rotary Club installed a new president and board of directors at an installation dinner at Blackwell’s Steak House in Wading River June 29.
Ronald G. Farnworth, a partner in the accounting firm Kandell, Farnworth & Pubins, CPA, PC, was sworn in as president, succeeding Thaddeus Hill in that role.
“My goals as president are increasing the funds Riverhead Rotary Club raises for
worthwhile charitable causes in the Riverhead community and beyond, and to continue to grow the Riverhead Rotary Club’s membership,” Farnworth said.
Riverhead Rotary, chartered in 1931 and the third oldest club in Suffolk County, has about 100 members, making it the largest club in the Long Island-New York City Region.
Through its fundraising efforts — including events such as its annual pancake breakfast and spaghetti dinner, as well as “Rotary Uncorked,” a spring fling at Martha Clara Vineyard featuring wines and foods from local vinters and restaurants — Riverhead Rotary is able to support college scholarships for Riverhead students, food, clothing and school supply donations to needy local families, and a variety of local nonprofits and charities, including Peconic Bay Medical Center, the Long Island Council of Churches, Riverhead Free Library, Riverhead Townscape and Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, a special needs camp in Center Moriches. Riverhead Rotary has also helped support Rotary International’s efforts to bring clean drinking water and health services to third-world countries.
Farnworth has been a member of Riverhead Rotary for 17 years, and served as its treasurer for 12 years. He lives in Mount Sinai with his wife of 23 years, Rita and their two children.
Riverhead Rotary also installed four new members of its board of directors last month: Kenneth Abruzzo, a partner in Young & Young Surveyors & Engineers, Denise Civiletti, publisher of RiverheadLocal.com, Deborah Fleming, licensed real estate broker at Caldwell Banker-Bagshaw Real Estate and Daniel Lanieri, catering sales manager at Atlantis Marine World. They will serve alongside board members Linda J. Hulse (president-elect), Wendy Friedman-Kolsin (treasurer), Mary Ellen Ellwood (secretary), Thaddeas (Thud) Hill (immediate past president), Sharon Patterson, and Patrick Wiles.
Riverhead Rotary Club meets for lunch each Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. The luncheons this summer are held at the Meetinghouse Creek Restaurant in Aquebogue. Anyone interested in joining the club is encouraged to contact membership chair Thud Hill at 631-369-1234 ext. 107.
