Peconic Ballet Theatre celebrated its grand opening yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials, PBT students, family and friends.
The ceremony was followed by a short performance and meet-and-greet.
Peconic Ballet Theatre offers a wide variety of dance classes and programs for students of all ages and abilities, said founder and artistic director Christiana Bitonti. Students work closely with PBT’s professional dance company in residence to gain a deep understanding of the cultural impact of the arts through technical training and performance opportunities alongside other professional dancers.
The new studio at 71 East Main Street in Riverhead boasts a 1,000-square-foot dance space with sprung floors. The open and inviting lobby is a great place for receptions and exhibitions.
Bitonti has a professional background in dance and education and has been serving the community since 2008. She says her mission is to foster self-expression and a high level of self-worth through practice, rehearsal and performance.
