ourRiverhead Blue Waves lost to Bay Shore at home last night, 73-65.

Riverhead came out strong, penetrating the Bay Shore defense and scoring baskets down low, as well as some three-point shots from the arc.

But as the game continued, with Riverhead missing key opportunities at the free-throw line as well as capitalizing on offensive and defensive rebounding, the game slowly slipped Bay Shore’s way.

Kate McCarney delivered with her three-point shots. Angie Graziano and Kim Ligon forced the Bay Shore defense to commit fouls with their hard driving to the basket.

The frustration was evident in the face of coach David Spinella, who has only f games left in his tenure as Riverhead coach.

The final score at the buzzer was 73-65. Riverhead girls basketball’s next home game is Friday, February 3 against Northport at 4:30 p.m.
