Riverhead Police detectives, the Riverhead fire marshal and the Suffolk County arson squad are investigating a fire at a West Main Street business that broke out early this morning.

The fire was reported to police at 2:54 a.m. as a Dumpster fire behind Tanger Outlets. Riverhead Fire Department responded and extinguished the fires.

The blaze burned several vehicles and a storage building in the yard of an equipment rental business at 1794 W. Main St., listed as Main Street Equipment. The property, which abuts the rear of stores in the Tanger Outlets mall, is owned by Krzysztof Luniewski and Jozef Talik of Calverton, according to current town tax records.

There were no injuries in the incident.

“The fire is under active investigation with the assistance of the Suffolk County Police arson squad,” Carey said today.
