A Mastic Beach woman has been charged in the theft of more than $1,220 worth of merchandise from the Riverhead Target store in April, Riverhead Riverhead Town Police reported in a press release Sunday.
Melanie King, 37, removed items valued at $1224.61 from the Route 58 store on April 4, police said. After an investigation by Riverhead detectives, King was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
King was released on an appearance ticket for a later court date, police said.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
