Riley Avenue Elementary students elected new student council members during the week of Oct. 7.
Students were voted in by their classmates after receiving recommendations from their teachers and delivering speeches to their peers. Throughout the year, the 14 students, with the help of their advisor, Melissa Haupt, will work on community service projects, including food drives, a kindness challenge and a schoolwide unity day.
