Riverhead Ford wants your help filling up the bed of a truck with food for local families in need.

The dealership is hosting a local food drive to benefit the Church of the Harvest of Riverhead’s food pantry. Nonperishable food donations can be dropped off at the dealership’s showroom, located at 1419-23 Old Country Road, through the end of the month.

The effort is a part of Ford’s worldwide Global Caring Month initiative.

“We’ve just got to the end of the month, so we want to collect as much food as we possibly can,” Riverhead Ford General Manager Tom William said.

The Church of the Harvest’s food pantry serves about 600 local families a month, according to church officials. The church and food pantry are located at 572 Raynor Avenue.

“We do appreciate the interest that the community takes in [the food pantry], and especially local businesses — Ford being one of those,” Church of the Harvest Pastor Mike Troiano said.
