Walter F. Blanck of Baiting Hollow, formerly of West Islip, died on Jan. 9, 2026, at Acadia Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Riverhead. He was 84 years old.
He was born on June 5, 1941, in Sunnyside, Queens to Florence (Hoffbauer) and Walter Blanck. Walter graduated from East Meadow High School in 1958 and attended CW Post College. He was an automotive machinist and the owner of Machine World of Amityville.
On Nov. 12, 1967, he married his wife Grace at St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon. Walter was a former grand knight of the Immaculate Conception Council #928, a parishioner a St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of the Windcrest Veterans. He enjoyed football, gardening, and fixing anything, being a motorhead at heart.
He is survived by his wife Grace of Baiting Hollow; his children, Michelle Flavin of Oceanside and Jean Perello of Sag Harbor; and by seven grandchildren
The family will receive visitors on Monday, Jan. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, with interment at Calverton National Cemetery.
