Kirby Lee Wooten III, of North Las Vegas, Nevada died April 1, 2026 after a brief illness. He was71 years old.

He was born in Newburgh, New York on April 24, 1954, the son of Virginia (Peterson) and Kirby Wooten Jr. of Riverhead, who was then stationed at Stewart Air Force base in Newburgh.

Kirby graduated from Riverhead High School in 1972 and entered the United States Air Force. He returned home after one four-year tour. He attended Suffolk County Community College and St. Joseph’s College, where he studied nursing.  He re-enlisted in the USAF in the medical field. Kirby served in the military until he retired after 22 years of service, attaining the rank of major.

Kirby was a past member of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he met his wife Cindy Lou Winston, also a volunteer. Kirby served as Master of the Masonic Lodge #645 F & AM in 1983. 

After traveling the world with his wife and children, being stationed in Japan and Germany, Kirby elected to serve his final tour and settle down in North Las Vegas. 

Kirby’s hobbies included glass etching, world’s best smoker of meats (his words), golfing and spending time with his grandson Matthew. 

He is survived by his wife Cindy Lou, and his children, Jeremy and Sarah (Kurt) and a grandchild Matthew. He is also survived by his brothers Carl, Robert and James.  He was predeceased by his brothers John Wooten and George Owens.

A funeral service and inurnment is scheduled at the National Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada on April 27.
