A 41-year-old Riverhead woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on County Road 51 early Sunday morning, Southampton Town Police said. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries and charged with DWI.

Police said the man who caused a three-car crash on Pulaski Street that injured four people yesterday was impaired by drugs and in possession of a 40-caliber handgun and two loaded magazines. He left the scene on foot, followed by responding officers, and was arrested on weapons and DWAI charges.

Riverhead Police charged a man with aggravated driving while intoxicated after a crash with a marked police car on West Main Street last night.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by the Riverhead Police Department and the East End Drug Task Force into neighborhood complaints about suspicious activities at 47 Hinda Boulevard in Riverhead, police said.

Police established several sobriety checkpoints throughout town last night, part of an enforcement action by the Suffolk County District Attorney's DWI Task Force. Stepped up enforcement will continue through the holiday season, police said.

Riverhead Police arrested Alexander Maldonado, 16, in connection with an attempted robbery on Roanoke Avenue Aug. 10. A second suspect remains at large, police said.

A five-year-old boy riding a bicycle was seriously injured when he was struck by a pickup truck Saturday evening. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and is in serious condition. The driver of the pickup was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

The male victim told officers that a woman had removed his wallet at the Stop and Go Mini Mart, 55 West Main St. After realizing his wallet was removed, he followed the suspect to the Flanders Road area and identified her to responding patrol units and detectives.

Three people were arrested last night as part of an enforcement action by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s DWI Task Force in Riverhead Town.

Six people were arrested on drug charges following an East End Drug Task Force raid on a Melene Avenue home yesterday, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release this afternoon.
