Cops: A drunken school bus driver carrying day campers from Baiting Hollow Scout Camp was involved in two crashes on Sound Avenue yesterday afternoon — and left the scene of both. The driver, a 61-year-old Ridge woman was arresgted on felony DWI charges under Leandra's Law and other charges.

Southbound traffic on Flanders Road in Riverside was diverted while PSEG repaired a severed pole and downed wires after the crash, police said.

Suffolk Police said a 26-year-old Wading River woman was drunk when she drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday

A Mattituck man has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a crash on West Main Street last night that killed a pedestrian, Riverhead Town Police said in a press release this morning.

Four people were arrested at sobriety checkpoints conducted by Riverhead Town Police last night.

A 41-year-old Riverhead woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on County Road 51 early Sunday morning, Southampton Town Police said. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries and charged with DWI.

Police said the man who caused a three-car crash on Pulaski Street that injured four people yesterday was impaired by drugs and in possession of a 40-caliber handgun and two loaded magazines. He left the scene on foot, followed by responding officers, and was arrested on weapons and DWAI charges.

Riverhead Police charged a man with aggravated driving while intoxicated after a crash with a marked police car on West Main Street last night.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by the Riverhead Police Department and the East End Drug Task Force into neighborhood complaints about suspicious activities at 47 Hinda Boulevard in Riverhead, police said.

Police established several sobriety checkpoints throughout town last night, part of an enforcement action by the Suffolk County District Attorney's DWI Task Force. Stepped up enforcement will continue through the holiday season, police said.
