A halt on all industrial development activities in the hamlet of Calverton has been extended for three more months.

The Riverhead Town Board is poised to set a public hearing on a local law to extend the town’s moratorium on industrial development in Calverton another three months.

A resolution setting a hearing on a three-month extension of the Calverton industrial moratorium was tabled by the Town Board at its meeting this afternoon. The current six-month moratorium expires next month, long before any zoning changes will be in place.

A mixed-use building with 36 apartments above retail and office space is being planned on a vacant 16-acre parcel on Middle Country Road in Calverton, according to plans posted online by a real estate agent advertising the building for lease. 

Potholes in the deteriorated pavement along NY-25 in Calverton are being filled, but resurfacing won't take place until 2027, a State DOT spokesperson said. Update on roadwork planned for state roads in town.
