With Poe fest just two weeks away, Headless Horseman gallops into downtown Riverhead
Edgar Allan Poe, Ichabod Crane and the infamous Headless Horseman made an appearance in downtown Riverhead Saturday. The upcoming Poe fest, a three-day event featuring food, fantasy and — of course — horror, with Main Street trick-or-treating, a costume parade Halloween evening, fireworks Saturday night is gearing up to be "the biggest Halloween party on Long Island," according to festival organizer.

As end of outdoor season nears, Riverhead’s popular indoor farmers’ market is still without a home
Riverhead BID officials are still looking for a home for the indoor farmers' market, which is supposed to begin the first Saturday in November. Last winter's location is not likely going to be available because the building owner is set to sign a lease with a dollar store, according to BID president Ray Pickersgill.

A 19-year-old male was shot twice in the back while walking home on East Avenue late Friday night. Riverhead police are searching for two gunmen, described by the victim as Hispanic males. The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for surgery.
